பாடல் – 83

உப்பின் பெருங்குப்பை நீர்படியின் இல்லாகும்
நட்பின் கொழுமுளை பொய்வழங்கின் இல்லாகும்
செப்பம் உடையார் மழையனையர் இம்மூன்றும்
செப்ப நெறிதூரா வாறு.

(இ-ள்.) உப்பின் – உப்பினது, பெருங்குப்பை – பெரிய குவியல், நீர் படியின் – தன்னில் நீர் படிந்தால், இல் ஆகும் – இல்லாமற் போகும்; நட்பின் கொழுமுளை – நட்பினது செழித்த முளையானது, பொய் வழங்கின் – பொய்யாகிய நெருப்பைப் பெய்தால், இல் ஆகும் – அழிந்துபோம்; செப்பம் உடையார் – நடுவுநிலைமையுடையார், மழை அனையர் – மழை போல எல்லார்க்கும் ஒப்ப உபகரிப்பார்; இ மூன்றும் – நீர் படியாமையும் பொய் வழங்காமையும் மழையை ஒத்தலும் ஆகிய மூன்றும், செப்பநெறி – நல்வழியை, தூரா ஆறு – தூராமைக்குக் காரணமாகிய சாதனங்களாம்; (எ-று.)

(க-ரை.) உப்பின் குவியல் நீர் படியாமையும், நட்பினர் பொய் வழங்காமையும், மழையனையார் செப்பமுடைமையும் நல்வழியைக் கெடுக்கா முறைகள் என்பது.

படியின் : வினையெச்சம். படிதல் – தோய்தல், பொருந்தல், செப்பம் இரண்டனுள் முன்னது பண்பாகுபெயர்; பின்னது பண்புப் பெயர்.
