ஒரு சிற்றூரில் ஏட்டுக்கல்வி அறிவில்லாமல் மூட நம்பிக்கையில் பற்றுக் கொண்டு வாழும் குடும்பத்தில் பிறந்த எனக்கு "மூக்கன்'' என்று பெயரிட்டனர். கற்ற நண்பர்களும், பெரியவர்களும் எனக்கு "மோகன்'' என்று பெயரைத் திருத்தம் செய்தார்கள். அன்றைய நிலையில் நானும் ஏற்றுக் கொண்டேன். "மோகன்'' என்பது வடசொல்லாயிற்றே. பெருவாரியாக என் தந்தையின் பெயர் "அய்யாவு'' என்பதில் ல்அய்யால் என்ற பகுதியை மட்டும் முன் நிறுத்தி "அய்யா.மோகன்'' என்றும், யான் தமிழாசிரியராகப் பணியாற்றியக் கரணியத்தால் "புலவர் அய்யா. மோகன்'' என்றும் பெயராயிற்று.
நான் கொழும்பைப் பிறப்பிடமாகக் கொண்டவள். எனது பெற்றோர் இந்திய தேசத்தைப் பூர்வீகமாகக் கொண்டாலும், சிறுவயதிலேயே வியாபார நிமித்தம் குடும்பத்துடன் இலங்கைக்கு குடிபெயர்ந்தவர்கள்.
பாடசாலைக் காலத்தில் சாரணியர் இயக்கத்திலும் அங்கம் வகித்து, பல சமூக சேவையிலும் பங்களிப்பு செய்துள்ளேன்
2022 ஆம் ஆண்டு இறுதிப் பகுதியில் எனது கன்னி நூலான "புள்ளியில்லாக் கோலம்" நூலை வெளியிட்டுள்ளேன்.
